Description
Firbeck, a village, a township, and a parish in W. K. Yorkshire, adjacent to Notts, 4 miles SSW of Tickhill. and 6 KNW of Worksop railway station. The parish includes the township of Letwell, and part of the hamlet of Stone. It has a post and telegraph office under Rotherham; money order office, Tickhill. The area of the township is 1297 acres; population, 187 ; of the civil and ecclesiastical parish, 273. Firbeck Hall, standing in a park of 70 acres, is the residence of the Jebb family. The living is a rectory, united with the vicarage of Letwell, in the diocese of York; gross value, £320 with residence. Patron, the Archbishop of York. The church is a small stone building in the Norman style, and was thoroughly restored in 1887.
