Welcome to our United Kingdom genealogy site

Sturminster Newton Mill, DorsetGenealogy is such a wonderful subject, we love it, and find it totally addictive. We aim to make this site one of the best United Kingdom genealogy sources on the net. When you see some of the UK family history or tree sites already available you will agree that this is a mammoth task - we love a challenge!

We started building this site about 12 years ago mainly around our own family tree interests, namely UK genealogy, but especially the West Country (Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Cornwall, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire). If this is not your cup-of-tea then please do not be put off yet as we are sure there will be something of interest to everyone with regard to their English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish ancestry - if not then please tell us!. We have information for most counties online, and if not it will be coming soon...

By all means feel free to browse around at will; in fact we welcome it. You will find all sorts of information, from the normal external links, to parish register transcripts, wills, Heralds' Visitations, biographies, census transcripts, etc..

31st August 2010 - Three hundred more pages added

We have just finished adding another 300 or so descriptions from the Gazetteer of England and Wales, across all English counties and also Anglesey, Breconshire, and Carnarvonshire in Wales.

Over the next couple of days we will be making slight tweaks to the county pages to improve the layout slightly. This will involve moving the map over to the right of the page, and changing the flow of the descriptions.
