Description
Crambe, a township and a parish in the N.R. Yorkshire. The township lies on the river Derwent, and on the York and Scarborough railway, at Kirkham Abbey station, 6 miles from Malton, and 12 from York. Post, money order, and telegraph office, Kirkham station. The Strickland family^ of Boynton Hall, are lords of the manor and chief landowners. The parish also includes Barton Hill station and the township of Barton-le-Willows. Total area, 2215 acres; population, 344. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of York; net value, c£284 with residence, in the gift of the Lord Chancellor. The church is an ancient building in the Norman and Early English styles. It was partially restored in 1887. There is a small chapel of ease at Barton-le-Willows, served from the parish church.
