Church Fenton, West Riding

Description
Church-Fenton or Kirk-Fenton, a village, a township, and a parish in the W. R. Yorkshire. The township lies on the N.E.R., near the river Wharfe, 6 miles SSE of Tadcaster, and has a station on the railway. It has a post and money order office under Leeds; telegraph office, Sherbum-in-Elmet. Acreage of township, 1976; population, 469; of civil and ecclesiastical parish, 659. The parish contains also the townships of Little Fenton and Biggin. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of York; gross value, £300. Patron, the Archbishop of York. The church is cruciform, of various dates, from Norman downward, and was restored in 1843. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
