Carthorpe, North Riding

Carthorpe, a village and a township in Burneston parish, N. R. Yorkshire, near the river Swale, 4 1/2 miles SE of Bedale, and 2 1/2 from Sinderby station on the N.E.R., with a post office under Bedale; Kirklington is the money order and telegraph office. Acreage, 2112; population, 810. There are Wesleyan and Primitive Methodist chapels.
