Brierley, West Riding

Description
Brierley, a township in Felkirk parish, in the W. R. Yorkshire, adjacent to the Barnsley Canal and the North Midland railway, 5 1/2 miles NE of Barnsley. The railway station is at Hemsworth (1 1/2 mile) on the West Riding and Grimsby Joint railway. It includes the hamlet of Grimethorpe, and has a post and money order office under Barnsley ; telegraph office, Hemsworth. Acreage, 2501; population, 502. The church is a modern one in the Early English style, and is in the charge of a curate.
