Bishop-Monkton, a township, a village, and a parish in the W. R. Yorkshire, adjacent to the N.E.R., 2 miles NE of Wormald-Green station, and 4 SSE of Ripon, with a post office under Leeds; money order and telegraph office. Burton Leonard. Acreage, 2186; population of the civil parish, 425; of the ecclesiastical, 444. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ripon; gross value, £300 with residence. Patrons, the Dean and Chapter of Ripon. The church is good. There is a Wesleyan chapel, a mechanics' institute, and also a paper-mill.
