Description
Bewerley, a township in Ripon parish, W. R. Yorkshire, on the river Nidd, 1 mile from Pateley-Bridge station on the N.E.R., and 11 miles NW of Ripley. Post town, Pateley-Bridge. It includes the village of Bridge House Gate and the ecclesiastical parish of Greenhow-Hill. Acreage, 5771; population, 1013. The inhabitants are chiefly employed in lead mines. Bewerley Hall is the seat of the Yorkes.
