Description
Austwick, a township and a parish in the W. R. Yorkshire, near Ingleborough Hill, 2 1/2 miles NE of Clapham railway station, and 4 1/2 NW of Settle. It has a post and money order office under Lancaster. Acreage, 7912; population of the civil parish, 449 ; of the ecclesiastical, 729. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Bipon; net value, £250 with residence. Patron, the Vicar of Clapham. The church is modern. There are a Wesleyan chapel and various charities.
