Arkendale, West Riding

Arkendale, a township, a village, and a parish in the W. R. Yorkshire, 1 1/4 mile from Copgrove railway station, and 3 1/2 NE of Knaresborough. The parish has a post office under Knaresborough, which is the money order and telegraph office. Acreage, 1604; population of the civil parish, 201; of the ecclesiastical, 165. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Ripon; gross value, £200 with residence. Patron, the Vicar of Knaresborough. The church is modern and good, and was recently restored at a cost of £1300. Tliere are Wesleyan and Primitive Methodist chapels.
