Description
Warnham, a parish, with a village, in Sussex, with a station on the L.B. & S.C.R., 37 miles from London, and 2 NNW of Horsham. It has a post, money order, and telegraph office under Horsham. Acreage, 4960; population, 1060. Warnham Court is the seat of the Lucas family. Field Place, Northlands, and Warnham Lodge also are chief residences; the first was the birthplace of the poet Shelley. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Chichester; net value, £270 with residence. The church is an ancient edifice of stone in the Early English style; in 1886 the building was thoroughly restored and the chancel rebuilt. A village hall and club was erected in 1892.
