Description
Stopham, a parish in Sussex, on the river Arun, 1 mile W of Pulborough station on the L.B. & S.C.R. It has a post office under Petworth; money order and telegraph office, Pulborough. Acreage, 864; population, 151. Stopham Bridge, over the Arun, is a seven-arched structure of 1309. Stopham House is the chief residence. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Chichester; net value, £95 with residence. The church is partly Norman, partly Decorated English, and contains effigies and memorials of the Barttelot family.
