Description
Shermanbury, a parish in Sussex, 2 miles E of Partridge Green station on The L.B. & S.C.R., and 6 NNE of Steyning. It has a post office under Henfield; money order and telegraph office, Henfield. Acreage, 1917; population, 356. There is a parish council consisting of six members. Ewhurst was the seat of the Peverels, and has left a gateway of early Edwardian date. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Chichester; net value, £220 with residence. The church is an ancient building in the Early English style.
