Selmeston, a parish in Sussex, 1 mile W by N of Berwick station on the L.B. & S.C.R., and 6 1/2 miles ESE of Lewes. Post town, Polegate; money order office, Firle; telegraph office, Berwick railway station. Acreage, 1599; population, 210. The manor belongs to Viscount Gage. The living is a vicarage, united with Alciston, in the diocese of Chichester; value, £220 with residence. The church is Early English, and was rebuilt in 1867.
