Description
Stoke, North, a parish in Sussex, on the river Arun, 3 1/2 miles N of Arundel, and 1 mile from Amberley station on the L.B. & S.C.R. Post town, Arundel. Acreage, 941; population, 100. The Duke of Norfolk is lord of the manor. An ancient British canoe 34 1/2 feet long was found in 1834, and is now in the British Museum. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Chichester; gross value, £50. Patron, Lord Leconfield. The church is cruciform.
