Description
Kingston-by-Sea or Kingston Bowsey, a parish in Sussex, 4 miles from Brighton. It has a goods station on the L.B. & S.C.R., 55 miles from London. Post town, Brighton. Acreage, 778; population, 253. Two corn warehouses, large making houses, bonding warehouses, a custom house, ponds, and quays are here, and a large traffic goes on between the railway station and the harbour. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Chichester; gross value, £240 with residence. Patron, Lord Leconfield. The church is of the 14th century, but has been completely renovated.
