Description
Guestling, a village and a parish in Sussex. The village stands 4 miles from Hastings station on the L.B. & S.C.R. and S.E.R. It is partly situated on an acclivity commanding fine views; consists of numerous detached houses and a few villas, and has a post office of the name of Guestling Green under Hastings; money order and telegraph office, Ore. Acreage of parish, 3578; population, 801. Broomham is an ancient seat of the Ashbumhams, and has a richly-wooded park. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Chichester; value, £420 with residence. Patron, Clare College, Cambridge. The church was destroyed by fire 23 March, 1890, but has been restored. There are an endowed school and some small almshouses.
