Description
Elsted, a parish in Sussex, with station on the L. & S.W.R. 61 miles from London, and 4^ WSW of Midhurst. Post town, Petersfield; money order office, South Harting; telegraph office at the railway station. Acreage, 1840 ; population of the civil parish, 191; of the ecclesiastical, with Freyford and Didling, 366. The living is a rectory, united with the rectory of Treyford and the vicarage of Didling, in the diocese of Chichester; net value, £250 with residence. The church is partly Norman, and was restored in 1873. There is a Methodist mission room.
