Denton, a parish in Sussex, on the river Ouse, 1 1/2 mile-N of Newhaven station on the L.B. & S.C.R.. and 5 miles SSE of Lewes. Post town, Newhaven, under Lewes; money order and telegraph office, Newhaven. Acreage, 1016; population, 534. The manor belongs to the duchy of Lancaster. The L.B. & S.C.R. Company have a reservoir here for supplying their premises and steamboats at Newhaven Wharf. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Chichester; value, £148.
