Burgate, a parish in Suffolk, 1 1/2 mile NE of Mellis station on the G.E.R., and 4 1/2 miles WNW of Eye. Post town, Diss, which is the money order and telegraph office. The church has a double-canopied brass of 1409, and is an ancient building of flint in the Early English style of architecture. There is also a Wesleyan chapel.
