Description

Brent-Eleigh or Brent-Ely, a village and a parish in Suffolk, near the river Brett, 7 miles NE by N of Sudbury, and 2 1/2 SE from Lavenham station on the G.E.R. There is-a post office under Lavenham (R.S.O.), which is the money order and telegraph office. Acreage of parish, 1684; population, 221. Brent-Eleigh Hall is a chief residence. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ely; gross value commuted, £482 with residence. The church is good, and was rebuilt in 1850. A market was formerly held in the parish.
