Description

Boyton, a parish in Suffolk, on the river Aide, near Hollesley Bay, 4 miles WSW of Orford, and 7 SE of Melton station on the G.E.R. It has a post and money order office under Woodbridge; telegraph office, Melton. Acreage, 1530; population, 223. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich; net value, £268 with residence. The church, a Gothic building of stone, was rebuilt in 1869-70, with the exception of the tower. There are a reading-room, a recreation ground, and endowed almshouses for 12 men and 12 women.
