Description

Barnardiston(corruptedly Berniston), a parish in Risbridge union, Suffolk, 5 miles NW of Clare, and 3 NE by E from Haverhill station on the G.E.R. Post town, Clare, which is the money order and telegraph office. Acreage, 1123 ; population, 181. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ely; gross yearly value, £210 with residence. the church is an ancient and interesting building of flint in the Norman and Early English styles, and there is a Primitive Methodist chapel.
