Wilton, a parish in Somerset, within Taunton borough, 1 1/2 mile from Taunton station on the G.W.R. It includes a SW suburb of Taunton, and contains a military prison, formerly the Somerset county jail. Post town, Taunton. Acreage, 248; population of the civil parish, 778; of the ecclesiastical, 933. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Bath and Wells; gross value, £120 with residence. The church is Early English, and has been restored.
