Description
Dowlish Wake or East Dowlish, a parish in Somerset, near the Chard Canal, 2 miles SE by S of Ilminster station on the G.W.R., and 4 NE of Chard. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Ilminstcr. Acreage, together with West Dowlish, 1212 ; population, 349. Limestone is quarried. The living is a rectory, united with the rectory of West Dowlish, in the diocese of Bath and Wells ; joint value, £347. The church was rebuilt in a handsome manner in 18G2.
