Chetton, Somerset

Description
Chetton, a township and a parish in Salop. The township lies on an affluent of the Severn, 4 miles SW of Bridg-north. It has a post office under Bridgnorth; money order and telegraph office, Bridgnorth. The parish includes the townships of Eudon Burnell, Eudon George, Faintree, and Criddon, and also the chapelry of Loughton. Acreage, 4038 ; population of the civil parish, 456 ; of the ecclesiastical, 622. The manor belonged to Lady Godiva. The living is a rectory, united with the chapelry of Loughton, and with the rectories of Deuxhill and Glazeley, in the diocese of Hereford; net value, £319 with residence. The .church is partly Norman. There is a chapel of ease at Loughton.
