Description
Shipton, a parish in Salop, 2 miles SE of Longville station on the Much Wenlock and Craven Arms branch of the G.W.R., and 67 SW of Much Wenlock. Post town and telegraph office, Much Wenlock; money order office, Stanton Long. Acreage, 1753; population of the civil parish, 142; of the ecclesiastical, 160. Shipton Hall and Larden Hall are chief residences. An ancient camp is near Larden. The living is a donative in the diocese of Hereford; gross value, £110. The church is ancient.
