Description
Kemberton, a village and a parish in Salop, 2 1/2 miles SW by S of Shifnal, with a post office under Shifnal; money order and telegraph office, Shifnal. Acreage, 1433; population, 219. Coal occurs in the NW, and is worked by the Madeley Wood Company. The living is a rectory, united with the vicarage of Sutton Maddock, in the diocese of Lich-field; gross value, £470 with residence. Population of the ecclesiastical district. 614. The church was erected in 1882 on the site of the old one, which was built in the 13th century.
