Description
Astley, formerly a chapelry in the parish of St Mary, Shrewsbury, Salop, is 1 mile S of Hadnall station on the L. & N.W.R., and 4 1/2 miles NNE of Shrewsbury, under which it has a post office; Hadnall is the money order and telegraph office. Acreage, 1204; population, 244. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lichfield; value, £150, in the gift of Trustees. The church is ancient, and was restored in 1883. Astley House is the chief residence.
