Description
Newton Purcell, a parish in Oxfordshire, adjacent to Bucks, 4 1/2 miles SW by W of Buckingham station on the L. & N.W.R. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Buckingham. Acreage, 602; population of the civil parish, 90; of the ecclesiastical, 107. The manor with all the land belongs to the Slater-Harrison family. The living is a rectory, united with the perpetual curacy of Shelswell, in the diocese of Oxford; gross value, £285. The church is ancient, has a Norman doorway, now closed up with brickwork ; has also a bell-turret, and was extensively repaired in 1875.
