Description
Crowmarsh Gifford, a parish in Oxfordshire, on the river Thames, adjacent on the east to Wallingford station on the G.W.R., and 13 miles SSE of Oxford. It has a post office of the name of Crowmarsh under Wallingford; money order and telegraph office, Wallingford. Acreage, 661; population, 300. A small hospital was founded here about the middle of the 13th century. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Oxford; net yearly value, £165 with residence The church is an ancient and interesting building dating from the middle of the 12th century. Howbery Park is a chief residence. Coprolites are found here, and a horse fair is held annually on 2 August.
