Syerston, Nottinghamshire

Description
Syerston, a parish and a chapelry in Notts, 3 1/2 miles ESE of Thurgarton railway station, and 5 1/2 from Newark. There is a post office under Newark; money order office, Flintham; telegraph office, Newark. Acreage, 770; population, 102. The manor, with Syerston Hall, belongs to the Fillingham family. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to East Stoke. The church is ancient, in the Early English style, and consists of chancel, nave, S porch, and low embattled tower.
