Description
Lenton, a village, a township, and a parish in Lincolnshire, 6 miles NE from Corby Station on the G.N.E., and 9 1/2 SE from Grantham. Post town, Grantham; money order and telegraph office, Falkingham. The parish includes the hamlet of Hanby and the townships of Keisby and Osgodby, Acreage, 4265; population, 242. The living is a vicarage, with the rectory of Hanby annexed, in the diocese of Lincoln; net value, £400 with residence, in the gift of the Earl of An-caster. The church is an ancient building of stone, consisting of chancel, nave, south aisle, south porch, and a tower with broach spire. It contains a fine and elaborate monument to Sir William Armyne, Bart., of Osgodby Hall (d. 1651) and his wife. The manors of Lenton and Osgodby belong to the Earl of Ancaster, and those of Hanby and Keisby to the Earl of Dysart.
