Description
Hoveringham, a village and a parish in Notts. The village stands near the river Trent, 1 1/2 mile E of Lowd-ham railway station, and 5 S of Southwell, and has a post office under Nottingham; money order and telegraph office, Lowdham. The parish comprises 934 acres, of which 34 are water; population, 384. The manor belongs to Trinity College, Cambridge. The living is a vicarage, annexed to Thurgarton, in the diocese of Southwell; gross value, £118 with residence. Patron, Trinity College, Cambridge. The church is a building in the Early English style, erected in 1865 on the site of an ancient one. There is a Primitive Methodist chapel.
