Description
Halam, a village and a parish in Notts, 1 1/2 mile NW of Sonthwell railway station. There is a post office under South-well; money order and telegraph office, Southwell. Acreage, 1623; population, 264. The manor belongs to the Ecclesiastical Commissioners. There are several acres of orchard. The living is a vicarage, annexed to that of Edingley, in the diocese of Southwell; net value, £300. Patrons, the Bishops of Manchester and Ripon alternately. The church consists of nave and chancel, with low square tower, and several stained memorial windows, and was restored in 1884.
