Description
Egmanton, a village and a parish in Notts, 2 miles SW of Tuxford railway station, and 5 ENE of Ollerton. Post town, Newark; money order and telegraph office, Tuxford. Acreage, 2217 ; population, 231. The manor was given by Henry I. to Nigel d'Albini. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Southwell; net value, £200 with residence. Pa- tron, the Duke of Newcastle. The church is an edifice of the Perpendicular date, but very dilapidated. There are Wes-leyan and Primitive Methodist chapels.
