Description
Gunnerton, a village in Chollerton parish, Northumberland, on the North- Tyne river, and on the Border Counties railway, 7 1/2 miles NNW of Hexham, and 1 1/2 mile from Barras-ford station on the North British railway. It has a post office under Wark (R.S.O.); money order office at Barras-ford; telegraph office, Wark. There are traces of a Roman entrenchment, and a large barrow in which coins have been found.
