Description
Cartington, a village and a township in Rothbury parish, Northumberland, on an affluent of the river Coquet, 3 miles NW by N of Rothbury station on the North British railway. Acreage, 1906; population, 72. The Duke of Northumberland is lord of the manor. Cartington Castle, now in ruins, was a seat of the Ratcliffes and the Widdringtons.
