Thorpe Mandeville, a small village and a parish in Northamptonshire, 3 1/2 miles N by W of Farthinghoe station on the Banbury and Bletchley section of the L. & N.W.R., 3 1/2 W of Helmdon station on the Banbury and Northampton Junction railway, 4 SW of Moreton Pinkney station on the East and West Junction railway, and 6 NE by E from Banbury. There is a post and telegraph office under Banbury; money order office, Culworth. Acreage, 1030; population, 165. The manor with the manor house, a mansion of stone standing in extensive grounds, belongs to the Peareth family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough; net value, £2 50 with residence. The church is an ancient building of stone dating from the 13th century, and consisting of chancel, nave, N aisle, S porch, and a western tower with pack saddle and saddle back roof and pinnacles and gargoyles. It has some ancient tombs and monuments, and some good stained windows.
