Description
Rothersthorpe, a parish in Northamptonshire, on the Northampton Canal, 1 1/2 mile NW of Blisworth station on the L. & N.W.R., and 3 1/2 miles SW of Northampton. Post town, Northampton; money order and telegraph office, Gayton. Acreage, 1275; population, 266. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Peterborough; net value, £150 with residence. The church is a building of stone in the Perpendiculiar style, consisting of chancel, nave, aisles, S porch, and a pack-saddle tower, which was thoroughly restored in 1895. There is a Baptist chapel. An ancient encampment formed of very lofty earthworks is standing in the centre of the village, and is supposed to be Danish.
