Orton, a township and a chapelry in Rothwell parish, Northamptonshire, 1 1/2 mile SW of Rothwell, 5 miles W by N of Kettering, and 3 1/4 S from Desborough station on the Kettering, Market Harborough, and Leicester section of the M.R. Post town, Kettering; money order and telegraph office, Rothwell. Acreage, 975; population, 73. The manor belongs to the Fleming family. The living is a vicarage, annexed to The vicarage of Rothwell, in the diocese of Peterborough; Joint gross value, £150. The church is an ancient building of stone in the Perpendicular style, with some remains of Norman work, consisting of chancel, nave, S porch, and an embattled western tower.
