Glapthorn, a village and a parish in Northamptonshire, near the river Nen, and 1 1/2 mile NNW of Oundle station on the L. & N.W.R. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Oundle. Acreage, 1481; population of the civil parish, S15; of the ecclesiastical, with Cotterstock, 496. The living is a vicarage, annexed to the vicarage of Cotterstock, in the diocese of Peterborough; joint net yearly value, £57 with residence. Patron, Viscount Melville. The church is an ancient building of stone. The nave and chancel are Early English; the tower, porch, and most of the aisles are Perpendicular. The double lancet windows in the chancel are rare specimens of early plate tracery.
