Clapton, a village and a parish in Northamptonshire, on the verge of the county, 3 1/2 miles E of Thorpe station on the L. & N.W.R., and 4g- ENE of Thrapston. Post town, Thrapston, which is the money order and telegraph office. Acreage, 1953; population, 183. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough; gross yearly value, £278. The church, which was rebuilt in 1863, is a building of stone in the Early English and Decorated styles.
