Wolterton, a parish in Norfolk, 3 miles from Corpusty station on the Midland and Great Northern Joint railway, and 8 W by N of North Walsham. Post town, Aylsham, under Norwich. Acreage, 751; population of the civil parish, 45; of the ecclesiastical with Wickmere, 281. Wolterton Hall was built fa 1741 for Horace Walpole, and belongs now to the Earl of Orford. The living is a rectory, united with Wickmere, in the diocese of Norwich; gross value, £480 with residence. Patron, the Earl of Orford. The church is in ruins, the inhabitants attending the church at Wickmere.
