Description
Stratton Strawless, a village and a parish in Norfolk, 7 miles N by W of Norwich, and 1 1/2 mile SW from Buxton Lammas station on the East Norfolk section of the G.E.R. There is a post office under Norwich; money order and telegraph office, Buxton. Acreage, 1609; population, 137. The manor belongs to the Keppel family. Stratton Strawless Hall is a large modern mansion standing in a pleasant park. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich; net value, £230 with residence. The church, a building of stone in the Perpendicular style, consists of chancel, nave, S porch, and an embattled western tower, and contains some fine stained glass, also monuments to the Marshams, who were lords of the manor from the beginning of the 16th century.
