Description
Runham, a village and a parish in Norfolk. The village stands near the river Bure, at the Runham Swim ferry, 4 1/2 miles WNW of Yarmouth, and 3 SW from Ormesby station on the Midland and Great Northern Joint railway. It was once a market-town, and has a post and money order office under Great Yarmouth; telegraph office, Ormesby. The greater part of this parish is included within the limits of the county borough of Yarmouth. Acreage, 1682; population, 895. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Norwich; net value, £234 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Norwich. The church is an ancient building of stone in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, nave, and an embattled western tower. There are a Primitive Methodist chapel, a poor's allotment of 27 acres, and a small charity.
