Ovington, a parish, with a village, in Norfolk, near the river Wissey and the Roman road to Caistor, 1 1/2 mile NNE of Watton station on the Bury, Thetford, and Swaffham section of the G.E.R. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Watton, under Thetford. Acreage, 1517; population, 280. There is a parish council consisting of five members. The manor of Ovington Bozomes belongs to the University of Cambridge, and the manor of Woodhouse to the Harvey family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich; gross value, £24:6 with residence. Patron, the University of Cambridge. The church, which is a small but ancient building of rubble chiefly in the Decorated style, has a fine Norman door and a tower. There are a Primitive Methodist chapel and a fuel allotment of 22 acres.
