Gunthorpe, a parish in Norfolk, 5 1/2 miles SW from Holt, and 1 1/2 mile from Thnrsford station on the Midland and G.N. Joint railway. Post town, Briningham, under Dereham; money order and telegraph office, Melton Constable. Acreage, 1114 5'population of the civil parish, 213; of the ecclesiastical, with Bale, 452. The living is a rectory, united with the rectory of Bale, in the diocese of Norwich; joint gross yearly value, £570 with residence. The church is a building of flint in the Early English style, and there is a Wesleyan chapel. Gunthorpe Hall is a mansion of red brick, standing in a park of about 100 acres.
