Description
Ringstead, Great, a village and a parish in Norfolk. The village stands 1 1/2 mile SE of Hunstanton station on the G.E.R., and 5 miles NW of Docking. It has a post and money order office under Kings Lynn; telegraph office, Sedge-ford. The parish extends to the coast and comprises 2753 acres; population, 452. The manor belongs to the Strange family. The Downs, near the village, are a favourite resort for holiday parties. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich; net value, £554 with residence. The church, which is an ancient edifice of flint and stone in the Gothic style, was restored and enlarged in 1865 at a cost of more than £3200. There are a Wesleyan chapel and some small charities.
