Description
Gayton Thorpe, a village and a parish in Norfolk, 3 miles NE by E of East Winch station on the G.E.R., and 8 NW of Swaffham. Post town, Gayton-under-Lynn; money order and telegraph office, Gayton. Acreage, 2359 ; population of the civil parish, 167; of the ecclesiastical, 341. The living is a rectory, to which is annexed the vicarage of East Walton, in the diocese of Norwich; joint gross value, commuted tithes, £500 with residence at East Walton. The church is a building of rubble in the Norman style, with a round tower, the lower part Saxon, and the upper Norman. I
